November Reviews

Earl of Darby by Aubrey WynneπŸ™‚πŸ‘πŸ‘

Earl of Darby by Aubrey Wynne is part of the series called the Wicked Earls’ Club.  The novels focus on a group of Lords who joined a club called the Wicked Earl’s Club.  The rakes are determined to stay single and maintain their bachelorhood. The Earl of Darby’s sister is coming out as his friend’s sister that he agrees to help chaperone.  Little does he know what is going to happen.

Hannah Pendleton is excited about her coming out.  Her brother has left her with her Aunt Bertie and asked the Earl of Darby  to help chaperone the ladies. She has always thought she was in love with her brother’s other friend only to find out his has fallen in love with another person already.  So she has decided to just have a fun time with Matilda and all the opportunities available, only the Earl of Darby seems to be more fascinating and interesting. Maybe this is the one.

I enjoyed this novel.  Aunt Bertie was a fun character who added some humor to the story and made me laugh. There is a suicide that starts the book, so it was hard to believe that book would be positive and a fun read, but it was.  This is the first book I have read in the Wicked Dukes Club and I did not feel I was missing information to enjoy the book. The Earl of Darby is an interesting historical romance with some thriller elements.

Restless Hearts by BJ DanielsπŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ‘πŸ‘

BJ Daniels has a new book coming out this month, Restless Hearts which also starts a new series called Montana Justice.  The book was called a romantic suspense, but it was more of a mystery and drama. I like how the two main characters were private investigators, which helped keep everything step by step.  I did enjoy how they researched the murder step by step.

Blaze McClintock came home, really she was sent home by Judge JT Landusky. (The judge that saved her life.) When she left home, she was never coming back, but with her father arrested for murder and refusing all help, it was time.  However, Blaze does not come alone. With Jake Horn (an ex and still in love with her) helping, they discover that her father is innocent, but too many people want the truth to stay hidden.

Together Blaze and Jake work the case by asking questions and looking for evidence.  They also start talking again with Jake reminding Blaze how much he loves her. Blaze’s father has more than a few secrets as does several people in town, which makes too many people could be the killers.

Restless Hearts by BJ Daniels is a fun ‘who dun it’ with romance read.

An Unexpected Gift by Kate PearceπŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ‘πŸ‘

An Unexpected Gift by Kate Pearce was a wonderful novella that was found at the end of the novel The Rancher’s Redemption.  The novella was an “unexpected gift” of a read! The book focuses on Billy Morgan and his friend Bella.

Billy came upon a situation where Bella was being harrassed by an ex employee.  He immediately helped her and ended up helping her in her kitchen for the lunch rush.  Bella was surprised by Billy’s help and surprised by her feelings for Billy. Billy has made so many mistakes in his life, he is reticent to make another and hurt another person.  An Unexpected Gift by Kate Pearce is a wonderful novella that will hit your heart for a second chance at love!

The Rancher's Redemption by Kate PearceπŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ‘πŸ‘

The Rancher’s Redemption by Kate Pearce is the second book in her spin off series called The Millers of Morgan Valley.  Morgan Valley is a valley in the Sierras where ranches are a way of life and tall broad shouldered cowboys are found.

Adam Miller’s wife died years ago.  Her battle with cancer ended Adam’s life as it was.  He became closed off and reticent. Lizzie is a single parent.  She is raising her son and moving forward with her life. Her baby’s father ran when he found out she was pregnant.  Her best friend growing up was Adam Miller’s dead wife, but Lizzie nor Adam ever spoke about that time.

Adam helps out Lizzie and slowly their relationship builds.  I like how Adam and Lizzie’s learn to speak with each other from the heart.  I love how they worked through so much and found each other again.

The story was poignant and heartfelt.  In fact more so than the prior novels by Kate Pearce.  I found that I understood the feelings of the main characters.  The Rancher’s Redemption by Kate Pearce was a great read.

Something Just Like This by Jennifer ProbstπŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ‘πŸ‘

Something Just Like This by Jennifer Probst is a novella about a mayor and his assistant.  The novel is loosely related to her series called Stay as the characters are shared as well as the setting in upstate New York.  Jonathan Lake is the mayor of New York City.  He has worked with his assistant Aylssa Block for two years and he has found her to be very capable and hard worker.  He has also has been asked to run for governor.

Lately Jonathan Lake has noticed his assistant more.  While they had a discussion about changing their status, Alyssa was hesitant to change their relationship.  Along the way while beginning to campaign for governor, she became even more conflicted. Jonathan, his daughter and Alyssa was invited to upstate New York to Olivia, Ethans and Harper’s home (B and B and Farm).  It is here in the rarified air outside of New York that they need to make a decision.

Something Just Like This by Jennifer Probst is a good read.  This novella is an great read that makes you hope.
