The President is Missing by Bill Clinton and James PattersonSmileCoolThumbs upThumbs upThumbs up

The President is Missing by James Patterson and Bill Clinton is a fabulous read. There is suspense, subterfuge, backdoor politics, terrorism, betrayal and a fast paced plot that holds your attention! To me the scariest part is how real it could be!

My favorite quote from the book:

“What does it mean to be an American today?  It’s a question that will answer itself if we get back to what’s brought us this far: widening the circle of opportunity, deepening the meaning of  freedom, and strengthening bonds of community. Shrinking the definition of them and expanding the definition of us. Leaving no one behind, left out, looked down on.”

“We must get back to that mission.  And do it with both energy and humility, knowing that our time is fleeting and our power is not an end in itself but a means to achieve more noble and necessary ends.”

“The American Dream works when our common humanity matters more than our interesting difference and when together they create endless possibilities.”

Murder Games by James Patterson and Howard Roughan

The newest thriller from James Patterson and Howard Roughan is Murder Games.  Elizabeth Needham is a policewoman looking for answers.  Dylan Reinhart is the professor and author who she needs to help her.  Together they make an unusual team, but they both are intelligent, determined individuals who are able to focus on what is important.

There is a serial killer in New York City.  The media call him the Dealer because he leaves cards behind each kill.  The people and methods of death do not seem to have anything in common except for the cards left behind.  However Dylan with Elizabeth’s help seems to find a common thread to pull and the two of them are off to follow the clues.

I like Dylan as the main character. I like his intelligence and humor.  I like his partner, Tracy.  I like his job as a professor at Yale.  I mostly like how he is portrayed as a realistic character with all of the strengths and weaknesses of humans.

The thrilling mystery kept me reading late into the night.  The setting in New York City with the constant bustling of life and people added to the heightened anticipation.  Murder Games is a great read.

The Bad Boy Cowboy by Kate Pearce

The Bad Boy Cowboy by Kate Pearce is the fourth book in the Morgan Ranch series.  The book focuses on the second twin “HW” Morgan and his reintroduction to the ranch and living at home with his siblings.  The ranch is slowly turning into a place to vacation with good food, horseback riding, exploring the Sierra Mountains and the local area.  It is into this that “HW” returns.

“HW” is a nationally ranked rodeo rider, but he doesn’t know where he is going. He knows that he is all done with the rodeo, but he doesn’t know what comes next and even if he is welcome to stay on the ranch.  He is feeling out of sorts with his brothers, especially his twin.  He feels out of place and alone.

Samantha comes to the ranch to help them.  As a disabled vet, her input can be key to helping the ranch cater to helping people.  Samantha is not about to be treated any differently as a fully able person.  “HW” manages to offend her from the outset, and yet seems to be fascinated by her.  Samantha is nosy and seems to push and pick at “HW” to help him grow.

The Bad Boy Cowboy by Kate Pearce is a fun, flirty read.

The Last Great Cowboy by Kate Pearce

The Last Good Cowboy by Kate PearceCoolCoolHeartHeartThumbs upThumbs up

The Last Good Cowboy by Kate Pearce is a great contemporary romance.  Once again the setting is the Morgan Ranch in the Sierra Mountains.  This is the third book in the series with great characters and a family story that scarred each of them in their own way.  Finding each other and working on the ranch is what has slowly called them all home!

Ry comes home after years of trailing his twin on the rodeo circuit. Ry realizes that is not the life he wants, nor is he willing to do the work to get there.  He wants the quiet ranch with the work that needs to be accomplished.  When he came home, who did he see but Avery, the girl he really liked in high school. Avery has had hard times of her own and is not really glad to see Ry.  She really liked him, but since her accident, her body has been broken and fixed so often that she is sure that as a cripple, Ry would not be interested.  Avery is wrong and Ry suddenly realizes the other reason he came home, he wants a family.

Kate Pearce in The Last Good Cowboy has introduced us to two characters who can support each other and hold each other.  That is what makes this book good.  The characters development and disclosures tie you to them and you are hopeful for the success of the relationship.  Meanwhile we get a front seat to the other brothers as they get closer to their own weddings and the ranch becomes more successful.  The Last Cowboy is a great read.

The Maverick Cowboy by Kate Pearce

The Maverick Cowboy by Kate PearceCoolCoolHeartHeartThumbs upThumbs up

The Maverick Cowboy by Kate Pearce is the second book about the Morgan Brothers (Morgan Ranch #2).  BB or Blue is the second oldest Morgan Brother.  He sees thinks as black or white and has always blamed his father and Chase for what happened that awful night.  As a marine, he always put service to his country first but now he is ready for working with his family on their ranch.  The only fly in his ointment is the local vet, Jenna McDonald.  He needs her help and knowledge with the horses, but doesn’t want anything more - it is not on his list.  Too bad the ex-marine doesn’t understand life doesn’t work like lists.

Jenna and Blue are well matched with stubbornness and self questions, both traits that can make it hard to get to know and trust another.  Each of their encounters grow hotter, too bad they can’t seem to find common ground - yet.   The Maverick Cowboy by Kate Pearce is a fitting addition to the first book, The Reluctant Cowboy.  I really am enjoying this series and am waiting patiently (not) for the third book The Last Good Cowboy.

The Reluctant Rancher by Kate Pearce

The Reluctant Rancher by Kate PearceCoolCoolHeartHeartThumbs upThumbs up

The Reluctant Rancher by Kate Pearce opened up a whole new world of modern day cowboys for me!  The ranch is in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and was settled by the Morgans years ago. Chase Morgan left the ranch and started his own company and he has not returned until summoned by his Aunt Ruth. The memories of his childhood make Chase not want to return.

On the land is a ghost town from the mining that brought people to the area, which makes the ranch a historical landmark needing to be saved according to January Mitchell.  Chase wants to sell the ranch and move Aunt Ruth closer and make her life easier.  January and Chase might be at cross purposes, but the attraction they feel is not.

Chase has closed off his heart and lives by his spreadsheets.  January feels that Chase is missing so much of the possibilities in his life.  Together they are hot and steamy.  After all - who doesn’t love a hot cowboy?

Big Shot by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde

Big Shot is the first book in a new series called Book Boyfriend. Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde have written a new book, giving us another HOT book boyfriend. They introduced us to a new “group” of men who run a high power real estate business in Chicago.

Wes Sinclair is a heart breaker.  He is only interested in a good time and avoids anyone that sounds like they might want/need a commitment.  Natalie Prescott drives him crazy.  She is the sister of one of his partners and he knows she is off limits.  However, she is really working to gain a reputation in selling houses, by passing him.  Wes and Natalie made a be about selling a specific house and Wes won.  Natalie now has to do whatever Wes wanted for two weeks - a lot can happen in two weeks.

A fun new series by two of my favorite authors, Big Shot is the first book.  Hot book boyfriends inside!

Well Built by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde

Kyle Coleman is one hot character in Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde’s newest series about  Book Boyfriends. This series focuses on the hot men of Premier Realty and within each story another hot book boyfriend finds his true love - not that the path is easy.

Kyle Coleman is the lead male character in Well Built.  He is one of the men from Premier Realty that rehab old structures and make them new again.  He is from a small town near Chicago and wants to help his mom.  So her buys her an old building to make into a bakery and a function room.  The only problem is Ella Fisher.  Ella wanted the same building to enlarger her father’s grocery store.  She has done everything she can to help out with her father since he had a stroke on the night Kyle Coleman’s father and brother messed up their lives.

Ella Fisher and Kyle used to be lovers, but now after all these years - no way - nope - not happening…  heh, heh, heh

Well Built is a fun romance to add to the Book Boyfriend Series!  Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde write awesome books that really make reading about book boyfriends fun!

Rock Solid by Carly Phillips and Erika WildeCoolCoolHeartHeartThumbs upThumbs up

Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde have turned into my favorite duo.  Their writing smokes the pages with electricity and a nice story.  I enjoy their characters and how they interact.  Rock Solid, the newest of their releases (in an HGTV) kind of way does not disappoint!

Katie and Connor meet and totally out of character for them have a one night stand.  Katie leaves the next morning without any warning and neither know enough about the other to ever find them.  More than three years later, Katie sees him in the newspapers and knows it is time to tell him about Valentine.  There are huge fears around that confession, but honesty prevails.  Little did she realize what would happen next;  hot gooey loving  and a surprising ending while surrounded by cuteness!  Rock Solid is a solid quick read with lots of fun and hot factored in. Connor definitely makes the fourth book boyfriend list!

Rock Solid by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde is a great read.

Outraged, too! It is just getting coverage. This government is shameful under this leadership.

At first I thought it said spa season. Either way it is a sign of rejuvenation! On a Kristin Hannah kick, loved Winter Garden. Happy reading!
